New Custom Pool Construction in Tucson, AZ

We design and build custom concrete (gunite and shotcrete) pools for Tucson-area homeowners, from the first 3D design to the day you swim. Our family runs the job, and our own crews do the work.

Rectangular pool with raised tile edge, raised spa and wide travertine deck beneath desert mountains.

Looking for a pool builder in Tucson who designs the pool, pulls the permit and then actually shows up to build it? That is how we work. Meraki Pools AZ is a family-owned company, licensed under AZ ROC #342505 and #352797. We build custom inground pools in concrete, and we do most of the work with our own hands and our own machines.

Pool installation in Tucson: what it means with us

When people search for pool installation in Tucson, they are usually picturing a pool dropped into a hole. With a custom concrete pool, installation is the whole build: layout, excavation with our own equipment, plumbing and steel, the shotcrete shell, tile and coping, the deck and the interior finish. Our own crew handles each stage, and we pull the permits and schedule the inspections, so you have one team from the first dig to the first swim.

What you get with a Meraki custom pool

A custom pool should fit your yard, your budget and the way your family spends time outside. Here is what that looks like with us:

  • A design you can walk through. We measure your yard and build your pool in 3D. Then you put on a VR headset and stand on your future deck before we dig.
  • A quote you can read. Your design becomes a written, line-item quote. You can see what the spa, the tanning ledge or the fire bowls add, and make trade-offs with real numbers.
  • One team from start to finish. Our in-house crews handle excavation, steel, masonry, tile, decks and hardscape. The owners are on site.
  • Good materials. Pentair pumps, filters and automation. StoneScapes Mini Pebble finishes from NPT. Tile from NPT, Aquabella and Bedrosians. Luxe fire bowls.

As Kendra H. wrote in her Google review: “Carlos and his team actually did the work.”

Why we only build concrete pools

We are a concrete pool builder. Every pool we build is gunite or shotcrete sprayed over a tied steel frame. We do not install fiberglass.

Concrete is what lets a pool be truly custom. Any shape, any depth, benches where you want them, a tanning ledge sized for your loungers, a raised spa, sheer descents and fire features built into the walls. It also works on the odd lots, slopes and caliche we see all over Southern Arizona. If you are still weighing shapes and features, our custom pool design guide goes deeper.

You will know who is in your yard and what comes next. For a closer look at how long each stage takes, read how long it takes to build a pool in Tucson. Elaine E. wrote in her Google review: “from groundbreaking, we were swimming in under two months!!” Every yard is different, so we give you a schedule for yours.

Permits, inspections and pool barriers

Every inground pool in the Tucson area needs a permit, and which office issues it depends on where your home sits. We handle the plans, the submittal, the corrections and every inspection. Our Tucson pool permits guide explains the process if you want the details.

Safety is part of the build, not an afterthought. We build every pool barrier to at least 5 feet. If you need a new block wall or a barrier wall, our block walls and pool fences crew handles that too.

How much does it cost to build a pool in Tucson?

Most new custom pools we build run about $40,000 to $120,000 or more. The biggest cost drivers are:

  • Size and shape. Bigger and deeper pools take more steel, concrete and finish.
  • Access and soil. Tight side yards, slopes and hard caliche take more time to dig.
  • Features. Spas, tanning ledges, sheer descents, fire bowls, lighting and automation.
  • Finish materials. Tile, coping and how much deck you want.

Our pool cost guide breaks this down further. Financing is available through Lyon Financial and Credit Union West on our financing page. The fastest way to a real number is a free design and quote for your yard.

More than a pool

Many clients want the whole backyard done at once, and it is easier to plan it together. We also build spas, outdoor kitchens and BBQ islands, travertine and paver decks, and turf, landscaping and irrigation. Sofia B. told us in her review: “We redid our entire yard from turf, travertine, plants and irrigation, the pool, waterfall, heater and salt system.”

Why homeowners pick Meraki as their Tucson pool builder

There are a lot of swimming pool builders in Tucson. Here is what we think sets us apart:

  • Family-owned and hands-on. The owners are on the job, not just at the sales table.
  • We own our equipment. Excavators and heavy equipment are ours, so we control the dig.
  • In-house crews. Excavation, steel, masonry, tile, decks and hardscape are done by our people.
  • 3D and VR design. You see it before you pay to build it.
  • Clear quotes. Written and line by line.

“The final product was beyond our expectations,” Sofia B. wrote in her Google review. That is the goal on every job.

Where we build pools

FAQ

Custom Pool Construction questions

Still curious? Call (520) 342-8335 and talk to an owner.

How much does a custom pool cost in Tucson?

Most new custom pools we build in Southern Arizona land between about $40,000 and $120,000 or more. Size, shape, access, spas, water and fire features, and decking all move the number. After we design your pool in 3D, you get a written line-item quote so you can see what each choice costs.

Do you build fiberglass pools?

No. We only build concrete pools, using gunite or shotcrete over a steel frame. Concrete lets us fit the pool to your yard with any shape, depth, bench, ledge or spa you want.

Who actually does the work on my pool?

Our own crews handle excavation, steel, masonry, tile, decks and hardscape, and the owners are on the job. We own our excavation equipment, so we are not waiting on someone else's schedule to dig.

Do you pull the permits?

Yes. We prepare the plans, submit them to your city, town or county, answer any corrections and schedule every inspection. If you have an HOA, we give you the 3D design and site plan for your approval package.

Can I see my pool before you build it?

Yes. Every pool is designed in 3D in your actual yard, and you can walk through it in VR. Most people change at least one thing, like the size of a ledge or where the spa sits, once they stand in it.

How long does it take to build a pool in Tucson?

It depends on design, permits, soil and weather, so we give you a schedule for your project rather than a one-size answer. Our timeline guide walks through each stage and what can slow it down.

Do you offer pool financing?

Yes. Financing is available through Lyon Financial and Credit Union West. Our financing page explains how to apply.

Can you build a pool in a yard with caliche or a slope?

Yes. Caliche and sloped lots are common around Tucson. Because we own our heavy equipment and build in concrete, we can dig through hard ground and design walls and steps that work with the grade.
