Southeast Tucson Pool with Stone and Mosaic Tile Raised Wall
A rectangular pool behind a newer two-story home in southeast Tucson, with wide entry steps, a raised wall finished in stacked stone and blue mosaic tile, travertine coping and deck, and 82 oz artificial turf. It also has an in-floor cleaning system. This page follows the pool from layout to finish.

Pool layout behind a new Tucson home
We painted the pool outline on the graded backyard behind the new home, checking setbacks from the house and walls before digging.

Step 2 of 5
Shotcrete pool shell with wide steps
The shotcrete shell formed the pool and the wide entry steps, then our crew prepped the interior for the tile, coping and finish stages. This pool has an in-floor cleaning system. You can see the extra pipes peeking up through the floor steel: each one becomes a pop-up cleaning head that pushes dirt toward the main drain, so the pool does most of its own cleaning in the dusty Tucson monsoon.

Stone and mosaic tile raised wall and coping
The raised wall at the back of the pool was faced in stacked stone with a band of blue mosaic tile, and travertine coping was set around the shell as the new 82 oz artificial turf went in.

Travertine pool deck
The travertine pool deck was laid around the pool, finishing the space between the entry steps and the turf with a cool, natural stone surface.

Louvered pergola on in-ground footings
Our crew installed a louvered pergola over part of the travertine deck. Each post sits on a concrete footing set in the ground, and the deck around it was laid to line up with the posts, so the shade looks like it was planned with the pool from the start.

Finished
The finished pool
The finished pool sits between travertine and turf. Our crew also installed a louvered pergola on footings set in the ground, shading the travertine deck next to the pool. The pool is shown under a solar cover, which holds heat in the water and cuts evaporation in the desert.
